Aston impresses employers

17th November 2006 – for immediate release

As one of the largest recruitment fairs in the UK, the National Graduate Recruitment Exhibition (NGRE) was a big hit amongst students and graduates from across the UK, and Aston University was proud to be a part of the action.

Hosted at Birmingham’s NEC, the fair attracted students from many Higher Education institutions and played host to a record number of exhibitors with over 130 on site. Student attendance exceeded over 7,000 visitors over the two day event.

The graduate recruitment fair runs twice yearly (November and June each year) and is in partnership with Aston University Careers Service along with Birmingham University Careers Service and Venture Marketing Group.

Aston University’s courtesy shuttle bus service proved popular amongst students, allowing them to travel between the University and fair with ease. Aston University Careers Service’s specialist ‘quick query’ appointmentswere heavily usedin the run up to the fair with the Careers Advisers being inundated with student CVs to be checkedprior toattending the fair.

‘The Fair is an excellent way for current students and recent graduates to meet employers face to face in one location to discuss their career opportunities and for the Careers Service to network with employers and market our services to them. Many of the employers I spoke to commented on how impressed they had been with the number and quality of Aston students they had met,’ said Debbie Salkeld Employer Liaison Manager Aston University Careers Service.
