Clearing students offered helping hand

17 August 2006 – for immediate release

ASTON University in Birmingham is all set for this year's university clearing process, which begins after A-level results are announced on 17 August.

Many of Aston's courses are already full, but the University is happy to hear from suitably qualified students wanting to study at its Birmingham city-centre based campus.

There are a small number of clearing places in subjects at Aston this year including Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Combined Honours subjects and Languages and the University welcomes applications from well qualified students. A team of dedicated staff across the University will be on hand to advise prospective students about what opportunities are still available.

Aston expects its overall intake this year to match that of last year’s record intake. Students are drawn to the University because of its outstanding graduate employment record, strong position in national league tables and city centre campus location.

Stewart Comfort, Director of Student Recruitment and Careers at Aston said: 'We expect to be extremely busy over the next few days and have an experienced team of staff available to provide information, advice and guidance to students at what can be a stressful time of year. Aston's popularity is at an all-time high this year especially as we were recently ranked 13th in the UK in The Times Newspaper’s Good University Guide.’
