ASTON UNIVERSITY’s Students’ guild are ready to welcome new students with the best Freshers’ Week in the country* – Fresh Fest 2004.

Students will have the opportunity to take part in a number of fun activities during the day including trips to local theme parks and bowling, followed by more lively nights in the Aston Students’ Guild! Help will be at hand for all Freshers during their first week at university from the Aston aunties – second and third year students that volunteer their help to all newcomers. So, here’s what’s going on:

Saturday 25th September

Fresher’s week begins with Custard & Mustard – Pop, Chart and Urban Essentials (8pm – 2am)

Sunday 26th September

Fresher’s gathering at The Aston Sessions – Ibiza beach party theme with dance music (8pm – 1am). Annie Mac (Radio 1 DJ) and Paul Kershaw (TBC) from Galaxy will be there.

Monday 27th September

City tours during the day followed by Beatbox – Urban essentials (8pm – 2am) AfroDizzyScratch and Galaxy DJs 3style and Mystro with break dancers

Tuesday 28th September

City tours during the day. The nights entertainment includes a city pub crawl (organised by the aunties) followed by Rubix – ‘70s and ‘80s retro (8pm – 2am)

Wednesday 29th September

Daytime activities include paint balling and ten-pin bowling. The evening involves another auntie’s pub crawl followed by Aston University’s famous school disco School Daze – ‘80s and ‘90s disco anthems (8pm – 2am) – with Pat Sharpe from Funhouse (it’s the midlands most successful school disco event and was the runner up in the Birmingham Evening Mail night life awards 2004 for best nightclub).

Thursday 30th September

New students can embark on a trip to Drayton Manor theme park and finish off the day at HaHaBonk Comedy Club followed by Larryoke (karaoke) (8pm – 2am)

Friday 01st October

The main Freshers’ event occurs tonight – the G Ball. Students may dress as anything so long as it begins with the letter G (8pm – 3am tbc) – Galaxy DJ Sasha Brooks and Javine will be there.

Sunday 03rd October

Freshers fair in the Guild Hall followed by the ‘Big Pub Quiz’
