Islamic Society welcomes non-Muslims to fast

THE Islamic Society from Aston University is inviting non-Muslims to fast with them as they start Ramadam, a thirty-day fasting period for Muslims.

The fast will begin on Thursday 7th November at sunrise and will last until sunset, when all the hungry participants will enjoy traditional Asian dishes at Aston University Students' Guild.

The nationwide event aims to raise money through sponsorship for the Prince's Trust and Target 2015* and is organised in association with the university charity organization RAG.

"The idea is to bring people together from all backgrounds and religions," says Amer Zulfiqar, member of the Aston University Islamic Society. "At the same time, we hope to raise a substantial amount of money for two very worthwhile charities."
