Annual HE convention continues to grow

OVER 8000 students are expected to visit this year's Birmingham Higher Education Convention at Aston University this week which boasts the biggest number of teachers and students ever.

The Year 12 students along with 260 teachers from 120 schools and colleges will be attending three halls within the University's campus - The Great Hall, Guild Hall and Gem Sports Hall with t-shirted guides to show them the way and help desks for any enquiries.

The event provides students with an opportunity to find out what's on offer at university through the exhibitors and seminars such as Applying to Higher Education, Student Finance and Student Life. Careers advice will be available from Prospects Careers and for anyone who wants to take a closer look at Aston campus there is a series of campus tours by Aston students over the two day event.

Aston University's Head of Careers and Schools Liaison, Stewart Comfort commented: "This convention provides an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in entering Higher Education to find out more about the opportunities open to them with almost all the UK's universities represented."

As well as universities, exhibitors include the Armed Forces, GAP Activity Projects, IBM UK Limited, National Westminster Bank, UCAS and World Challenge Expeditions.

The event is from 10am to 3pm on Thursday (5 July) and 9.30am to 2pm on Friday (6 July).
