Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) appoints Aston academic as new Dean of Senate
FOLLOWING the retirement of Professor Baker as Dean of CIM's Academic Senate, The Chartered Institute of Marketing has announced the appointment of a new Dean of Senate: John Saunders, Professor of Marketing and Head of Aston Business School.
"It is a great privilege to take over from such a distinguished predecessor as Professor Michael Baker and I see it as an opportunity to champion the Marketing profession and business more broadly. I have always been very encouraged by the fact that the Senate does demonstrate commitment from many very distinguished senior academics and industrialists who are willing to work closely together and Britain is unique in having such a committed body leading Marketing," said John Saunders.
The Senate advises the Institute on all matters pertaining to CIM's educational policy, on the maintenance and establishment of the standards of the Institute's education provision and qualifications and on matters concerned with research into the subject of Marketing.
Members of the CIM Academic Senate include most of the UK's leading Marketing Professors. Also sitting on this advisory body are individuals representing the Further Education sector as well as business and industry and representatives from the Academy of Marketing and the European Marketing Academy. CIM's Chief Executive John Stubbs and Chairman John Pratt also sit on the Senate.
