Research with Human Tissue

All research at Aston University with human tissues must be carried out in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Aston University QUALITY MANUAL: Acquisition, Storage, Use and Disposal of Human Tissue.

The Standard Operating Procedures within the Quality Manual support the use of human tissue for research to the standards required by the Human Tissue Act (2004).

Whilst not all human tissue used for research at Aston University involves “relevant material” as defined in the Human Tissue Act (2004) staff and students are required to manage all human tissue used for research at Aston in accordance with the Quality Manual.
