Professor Green is a member of the Area Studies Sub-Panel for the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). From 2009-11, he was Chair of the International Association for the Study of German Politics (IASGP). In 2011, he was elected to the Academy of the Social Sciences. Alongside his academic interests, Professor Green is active in British-German relations, and from 2006-10 served as Co-chair of UK-German Connection, a joint initiative of the UK and German governments to strengthen school and youth links.
