Go Green Champions

Go-Green-Champions

Fancy getting involved in helping your department to Go Green? Want the opportunity to learn more about sustainability and how to make a positive difference in your office or department? Or, would you just like the chance to win an award for your team and attend our annual awards lunch?

If you said yes to any (or all!) of the above then you should be one of our Aston Go Green Champions. We are recruiting staff volunteers for the Aston Go Green Champions campaign and all you need to do to sign up is contact environment@aston.ac.uk.

The scheme trains staff to look for opportunities and solutions to green their workplace by completing actions in a workbook. The workbook covers a range of sustainability criteria: energy, waste reduction, recycling, travel and procurement are just a few examples. Teams will receive points for completing the actions; there are bonus points available for teams who put in extra effort and think of innovative ways to green their department.

Go Green Champions receive ongoing advice and support kicked off by a training event in May. Each school and department has a Go Green Leader to give you senior backing – contact us to find out who your Green Leader is.

The first workbook submission date will be September 2014, followed by the final submission date in December. All the actions are easy to follow and you will be given plenty of support and advice along the way.

There will be an awards lunch to celebrate the success of all teams in February 2015!
