So it's Day 2 of National Bike Week, and there's still lots going on here at Aston.

Yesterday, you may have seen Sustrans in reception, talking about their cycling campaigns, in particular their Active Travel Champions scheme. Champions are simply people who are active or want to be more active. They are enthusiastic and motivated about cycling and walking and can support and encourage others to feel the same! Get in touch with the Environment Team if you're interested in becoming a champion here at Aston.

We also had a couple of our local police in yesterday to talk about bike security and safety. We've got many cycle shelters on campus - locations are marked on our Sustainable Transport Campus Map, which can be downloaded here. When using them, please make sure you lock your bike securely. D-locks are the best kind to use - you can buy a subsided lock from University Security for just £20.

As for the rest of the week, we've got someone from TravelWise coming in on Thursday morning to talk about sustainable travel choices - you can find them in Main Reception. Then on Friday, we've got the wonderful Cycle Chain selling a range of second hand bikes - also in Main Reception.

Plus, grab yourself a free coffee and pastry from AstBUG Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and plot your route into work on our cycle map. Longest commute will win a prize! We're also looking for the best dressed cyclist and the best snapshot of something you've seen on your cycle into work - tweet us a picture, upload one on our facebook page, or email one to us. Happy Cycling!

The D locks are further subsidized for AstBUG members, only £10 while stocks last.
