Travelling to Aston University by car

From whichever direction you are approaching Birmingham, Aston University is best reached from the M6 motorway and A38M (not the M6 Toll, which bypasses the city). Our road map (PDF) shows the Birmingham city centre road system around campus.

Please note there is only blue badge parking available on the University campus.  We recommend that visitors park at the Millennium Point Multistorey Car Park which is close to the Aston University campus and can be located at B4 7SA following the directions below:

From M6, Junction 6 (Aston Expressway) – 3 miles

Follow signs to City centre, on the A38(M). After the first exit follow signs for Ring Road and Convention centre. You immediately come to Dartmouth Circus Roundabout. Take the first exit (Dartmouth Middleway, A4540). At the next roundabout, take the third exit on to Jennens Road. Turn left on to Howe Street. The entrance to the Birmingham City Council multi-storey car park is straight ahead.  

From M5, Junction 3 (Hagley Road) – 9 miles

Follow A456 into Birmingham for approximately 6 miles, through the tunnel at Five Ways, onto Broad Street.  Follow signs for A38 (Aston Expressway) onto Great Charles Street Queensway.  Proceed under the tunnel at St Chad’s Queensway.  Turn left on to Jennens Road (east). At the roundabout take the forth exit on to Jennens road (west). Turn left on to Howe Street. The entrance to the Birmingham City Council multi-storey car park is straight ahead.  

From M42, Junction 6 (Coventry Road) – 11 miles

Follow A45 City Centre approximately for 7 miles.  You will then reach a large traffic roundabout (Bordesley Circus). Follow signs for M6 into Watery Lane Middleway. Continue to follow signs for the M6 through the first traffic island and second traffic island. At the next island, take the first exit on to Jennens Road. Turn left on to Howe Street. The entrance to the Birmingham City Council multi-storey car park is straight ahead.  

Please retain your entry tickets on entering Millennium Point Multi Storey Car Park. Payment is via machines located inside the car park building at the end of your visit.
