Travelling to Aston University by car

From whichever direction you are approaching Birmingham, Aston University is best reached from the M6 motorway and A38M (not the M6 Toll, which bypasses the city). Our road map (PDF) shows the Birmingham city centre road system around campus.

Our address is Aston University, Aston Triangle, Birmingham, B4 7ET. Information for satnav users.

Parking

There is very limited parking on campus, but ample pay and display parking in nearby public car parks, shown on our campus map (PDF) and directions below. Please note that the entrance to Millennium Point car park (B4 7AP) has changed and is now on Jennen's Road, not Curzon Street.

Visitor directions (Open Days, Events, Meetings etc) to Millennium Point Car Park

  • Exit the M6 at Junction 6, and follow signs for the A38(M) to the city centre. Ignore signs to 'Aston'. We are located in Birmingham City Centre, not Aston.

  • Stay on the A38(M), Aston Expressway, for approximately two miles until you reach the third exit. This is just after you pass the overhead 'end of motorway' signs. Aston University is signposted from here. You will see the Aston University Main Building on your left.

  • Take the LEFT filter lane here, and at the Lancaster Circus roundabout (next to the old Fire Station) take the first exit left into James Watt Queensway
  • IGNORE the first left turn into Aston Street (this is for dropping off only) but keep going for 200 metres in the left hand lane - you will pass the redbrick Lakeside university residences on your left. Ignore a left turn into Coleshill Street.
  • Take the next left turn onto Jennens Road at the Traffic Lights, following signs for “ThinkTank at Millennium Point”

  • Drive along Jennens’ Road for 300 metres to a roundabout (Ashted Circus) and take the 4th exit back on yourself onto Jennens’ Road again.

  • Turn left after 100 metres into Millennium Point/Think Tank Multi-Storey car park, across the road from campus and about 5 minutes walk from the Main Building.

  • After parking your car follow pedestrian signs for Thinktank/Millennium Point on level 2 of the car park. On exiting the car park building turn right and walk up the slight slope. You do not need to enter the Millennium Point/Thinktank building.

  • Keep walking up the slope towards the Aston University campus residences (bright red and grey buildings across Jennens' Road with a large Aston University sign) and cross Jennens Road by the Pelican crossing

  • Turn left and then immediately right along the boulevard and keep walking towards the Main Building which has a large clock and Aston University sign on the side. Main Reception is to the right of the clock.

  • Please retain your entry ticket on entering Millennium Point Multi Storey Car Park. Payment is via machines located inside the car park building at the end of your visit.
